Ever wondered what your life looks like through the eyes of someone—or something—completely unfamiliar with human behavior? That’s exactly what the Alien Interview worksheet lets you do.

This exercise is both amusing and surprisingly powerful. You’ll imagine being interviewed by curious aliens who know nothing about humans. They aren’t judging; they simply want to understand how people think, feel, and act. And because they have no context for human norms, your answers must be thoughtful, honest, and often a little weird.

Sometimes stepping outside of ourselves is the only way to truly see what drives us. By explaining your emotions, habits, contradictions, and desires to an outsider, you uncover insights about who you are, what you value, and what motivates you from the inside.

How It Works

The worksheet is divided into sections exploring different aspects of human experience:

  • Emotions & Social Behavior: Why do humans lie, cry, or feel guilt?

  • Human Motivations & Desires: Why pursue things we know may not make us happy?

  • Habits, Coping, and Avoidance: What is the point of procrastination, repetitive routines, or fidgeting?

  • Contradictions & Paradoxes: Why do we resist change even when we want it?

  • Relationships & Social Rules: Why do we forgive, complain, or maintain unhealthy connections?

  • Self-Image & Identity: Why are humans obsessed with how others perceive them?

  • Coping, Healing & Change: What do we mean by 'healing' or 'working on ourselves'?

  • Spirituality & Meaning: Why do humans seek purpose, hope, and belonging?

  • Fun & Humor: Why do we laugh at painful things, dance, or collect items we rarely use?

  • Substance Use & Addiction: Why consume chemicals that alter perception or return to habits we’ve tried to quit?

  • Mental Health & Emotional Regulation: Why do anxiety, shame, sadness, and anger affect us so deeply, even when it’s not obvious to others?

Each section invites reflection through unusual, thought-provoking questions that challenge your assumptions about yourself and your world.

Why It Works

By imagining your life through alien eyes, you are forced to explain your inner world clearly and honestly. It’s not about being right or wrong—it’s about understanding the why behind your actions.

This process builds self-awareness, emotional insight, and perspective. When we step outside the norms we take for granted, we gain the clarity needed to recognize patterns, contradictions, and strengths that were previously unconscious.
