The Gifts of Self Care

When people hear the phrase self-care, they often picture bubble baths, vacations, or time they don’t have. For many, that idea can feel unrealistic, or even frustrating, especially during stressful or emotionally charged times of year.

But self-care does not have to mean doing more. Sometimes, it means relating differently to yourself.

Instead of thinking of self-care as activities, it can be more helpful to think of it as qualities we give ourselves—gifts that don’t cost money, don’t require perfection, and don’t depend on circumstances being ideal. These gifts can be practiced in small, realistic ways, even during difficult seasons.

Below are some of the most important gifts of self-care, not as expectations, but as options.

There is no right or wrong choice. Some may feel more relevant than others right now...

  • The Gift of Self-Compassion

  • The Gift of Peace

  • The Gift of Meaning and Purpose

  • The Gift of Boundaries

  • The Gift of Acceptance

  • The Gift of Self-Love

  • The Gift of Recovery

  • The Gift of Honesty

  • The Gift of Patience

  • The Gift of Gratitude

  • The Gift of Presence

You don’t need to give yourself every gift.

You don’t need to give them perfectly.

Even choosing one can make a difference.

Caring for yourself gives you room to grow.
