🆓 Ken's Free Find of the Week: Social Anxiety Tips for Families

If you work with children, adolescents, or families, this is an excellent resource to keep on hand.

Created by the UCLA CARES Center, this one-page handout explains social anxiety in a way that's easy for families to understand while remaining grounded in evidence. It highlights:

  • Common signs and symptoms of social anxiety

  • When social anxiety becomes more than typical shyness (persistence, distress, and impairment)

  • How social anxiety can affect school, friendships, and family life

  • An overview of evidence-based treatment, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

One thing I especially like is that it helps parents recognize that social anxiety isn't simply "being shy." It explains how avoidance, excessive worry about being judged, replaying social interactions, and withdrawal can all be part of the picture in a clear, non-stigmatizing way.

Whether you're a therapist, school counselor, social worker, or parent, this is a practical handout that's easy to share and discuss.

📥 Download it free below and feel free to share it with anyone who may find it helpful.
